Parent-Based Treatment for Child Anxiety and Related Disorders
WebinarJoin TTACNY to explore this important topic with Professor Eli Lebowitz, PhD, from the Yale Child Study Center. This webinar focuses on the role of parental behaviors in childhood anxiety and related disorders. Highlighting the prevalence and comorbidity of these problems in children, the presentation underscores the importance of reducing family accommodation—a common parental response to a child’s anxiety that often exacerbates symptoms. SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) focuses on increasing parental support while decreasing accommodating behaviors, aiming to foster a child’s independence and confidence. The webinar will provide an introduction to the rationale, evidence-base, and key steps of SPACE treatment.
Participants of this webinar will be able to:
- Describe the prevalence of accommodation among parents of anxious youth.
- Explain associations between family accommodation and child anxiety.
- Describe parent-based treatment for child anxiety.
This webinar is for all of those working in the perinatal period as well as children birth to 5 and their families.
